James and Suzanne Halliday founded Coldstream Hills in 1985. Now owned by Treasury Wine Estates, Coldstream Hills has grown to become one of Australia's best known producers.
The Coldstream Hills vineyards are steep, close planted and line a natural amphitheatre. The main block faces north while the others are turned to the south-west. The vines enjoy a climate of cool winters and warm summers, with heavy rainfall during winter. In the winery batches are vinified separately, with each parcel closely monitored. Minimal intervention allows the wine to express its vineyard as much as possible.
Coldstream Hills make outstanding single vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their lead wines are in the Reserve range. Next in line are the Deer Farm and Rising Vineyard wines.
